About

T&A “Down the Line” is a blog about the life of Tyler & Alyssa living in the Now.

The Now just happens to be Gifu, Japan New York City.

1. Where are you from in the States?

Tyler is from the mountains of Colorado; Alyssa is from Little Rock.

2. Where did you meet?

We met in New York City in 2006.

3. What are you doing in Japan? New York?

Living life…which includes teaching English and traveling around the country. Living life…which includes long hours of work, walking, visiting museums, and of course, learning Japanese.

4. Where do you live?

We live near Gifu City in Gifu-ken. We live in Astoria—just east of Manhattan (across the East River)

5. What is/was Japan like?

It is wonderful. Traveling is easy thanks to a world class train system, people are incredibly friendly, and the culture is an incredible mix of tradition and modernity.

More about us:

We enjoy Grace, travel, cities, NYC, and Macs. Our home is wherever we are. Our motto at this point in our life is something Mark H. taught Tyler years ago: “Wherever you are, be there”. We live in the Now, and hope for Heaven. Our hope won’t be found in politics, money, or prestige. Our hope is in a Prodigal God~the One that spent everything to know us~and His ability to plunge our failures, and successes, into His Grace.

Most of our writings are about finding new things, venturing through Japan, and living life together. The Blog is titled “Down the Line” because we are always trying to live Now instead of waiting for things to come to us. You can read more about the title here. For now most of our posts are about our experiences in Japan. Of course that will change someday and we’ll have to write about new adventures and new places.

This year we are living in Japan. An outrageous number of our posts will focus on the things, places and people we encounter in Japan. Our goal is to be insightful and entertaining. We hope you enjoy hearing about our adventures and thoughts.
